The last week has been bad, first the change of host, the big mysql fiasco, and coz of all this loosing out on marketing.

and especially after the recent featured story in The Economic Times (see press page for details), the response has been over whelming, there are people wanting to buy pixels, and people wanting to represent me in their respective states!!!

Anyways hope the sales go up, now that im all over with changing, and i dont think there anything left to do with the site,,,, im all into marketing again, bringing this site to where it belongs The Number One Pixel Site

Changing Hosts can be the most daunting tasks one could go through, esecailly where mysql is involved, and a guy who never wrked on mysql, me :).

im the asp guy, asp files, and an acces file, easily portable and im on. But, thanks to Evo topsites, the software is marvoulous, and would recommend it to everyone, if u plan to create a toplist site, may it be pixels, or any other, Evo Top sites, is the best. Close your eyes and take it. if your going for a high traffic website, buy the evo pro version, more robust. no kidding. taking a back up was the easiest part, just a mouse click, and nothing more.

between changing hosts, my ranking on some keywords dropped, may be partly coz ther are new competetion, partly coz my site was down every now and then, wrking and upgrading the site. And changing it to a php, now that this is a linux server. so thats changing hosts, and changing languages, the 2 big no's SEO spell out, ive done both in one go. perhpas in a week i will know is this a mistake i made or will my presense come back.

Hope it does. last host, the google bot used to pay me a visit, twice a day, if not thrice. and between offs, my rankings were bound to drop, when it found a 404 error.

To start with, selling pixels is a very strange thing, ever try talking to a non-internet person, 'Oh my latest is i'm selling pixels', ...sounds more like i'm selling some kind of hardware!!!

the way i see it pixel ads are now being looked at in a very sceptical manner, branded as a 'fad'. i for one disagree.

Agreed there are more empty pixels sites today than with some who have ads. buy hey again if u go back a little in the history, the ".com Boom" also erupted the same fashion, and collapsed in a similiar way, but there are still people making loads of money on the net.... should i name someone here... ( from UK perhaps)

Pixels started with a boom, and today have slowed down. not in the number of sites which are coming up, but perhap in the number of ready advertisers there are. this i think increasing as the increase in growing sceptism for the same.

The Best Way to Judge a Pixel Site's Success?

By me, the best way to judge the value of a pixel site, is not by the number of ads, or number of pixels sold, but the number of non-pixel site ads they have.
Advertisments of sites, which have no relation to pixels what so ever. where people have seen the performance, and by their best judgemnet feel that this site/ webmaster will ensure that my ad will remain online for the next 5 years, and i am not being scammed. i think that site is bound to rise.

Plus, on the webmasters area, good marketing is a must!!

Welcome to my site, today there are more than 975 Pixel sites on the net. and the number growing by the day!!! And im one of them!!! But as you see on the home page, my site don't suck like some of them.

i still have ads coming, and loads of traffic. you can see my Statcounter.com account by clicking "view my site-stats" at the top of the page.

How i got into this???
A totally diffrent story than what you expect. a freind of mine in Romania told me about the BIG "milliondollarhomepage.com", site, and that that guy was earning loads!!!. I looked at it, and saw a few 100 odd colored dots all over, this sometime in Sept - Oct last year. At that point of time, he had but a 100 odd ads on his site, half asleep, brushed it aside as crap!!!

One day, first week November, browsing google, stumbled on another site "20centpixels.com", the same colored dots, but slightly bigger, read the FAQ, and found the name of the milliondollarhomepage.com's site there. Understanding the simple money making concept jumped into the pixel bandwagon.

2 days later i had my own Pixel Site!!!,

Got on google adwords, and i was all happy.

Two Weeks down the line, all the traffic that was there, was there thanks to Adwords!!!, money going out nothing happening, then i remembered my Economics teacher back in high-school, "If your product is not selling, there is somethings wrong with the product"

Browsed google a little more and found, at that point of time, there were around 650 pixels sites and growing!!! Boy Did i have competition !!!

That day to this day, have spent loads of time with in marketing and enhancing this site. Lets hope it's just worth it.
